Paynter

Up Windleton Bell Paynter Thorneapple

When John Paynter first came to Windlebridge, he stayed with the Windletons to paint portraits of the family. Many of his works hang on the walls of the Manor. Later he married Maureen, one of the Windleton daughters, and moved to a house by the Village Square.

Second Winter

John Paynter died, and at this time his widow Maureen lives by herself in the Paynter house. All the four children have left the home, the boys, Joshua, James and Jack are all three at Windle College, and the daughter, Joanna, married Michael Arrow and moved to Windleport.

Before he left for university, the youngest son Jack made the maid Janet Landers pregnant. A daughter was born, Nettie, who is raised at the house.
